Chicago 15 October 2019 – Fifty Filipino runners participating in the 2019 Chicago Marathon called on the Philippine Consulate General in Chicago on Friday, 11 October 2019.

Acting Head of Post Melchor P. Lalunio, Jr. welcomed the runners and delivered his inspirational message, reading the “10 commandments” for runners and urging them to give it their best shot.

Chicago, 11 October 2019 – The Philippine Consulate General in Chicago discussed possible areas of collaboration with Cathay Land Inc. during the call of the latter’s regional marketing head at the Kalayaan Hall of the Consulate in Chicago on 8 October 2019.

Consulate officials met Mr. Eric Umali, Cathay Land Regional Marketing Head for North America and discussed possible partnerships that would have a beneficial impact on the Filipino community in the Midwest. The real estate company sought to deepen its footprint in the region by offering its projects to investors, including Filipino Americans seeking to regularly visit or retire in the Philippines.

During the call, both sides expressed openness to collaborate on upcoming programs and activities, including the carbo-loading event on 11 October for Filipinos runners of the Chicago Marathon. The Consulate looked forward to establishing partnerships in activities geared towards promoting Philippine culture, economic development and the well-being of Filipinos in the US Heartland. END

10 October 2019 – The Philippine Consulate General in Chicago joined the launch of the first-ever Chicago Filipino Restaurant Week (FRW) at the SX Sky Bar on 6 October 2019.

Organized by the International Society of Filipinos in Finance and Accounting (ISFFA) Chicago and the Consulate, Chicago FRW runs from 6-21 October 2019. Twenty-two (22) participating restaurants are offering prix-fixe menus and other Filipino cuisine to their diners.
